Gentle steps from the stairs to sidewalk
And slow easy strides down 4 blocks to the bridge.
Everything is extra cautious,
Since any sudden movement
Might break the whole new year in two.
Leave us with splintered and fragmented days and throw our
carefully and concocted plans off balance.
But luckily we make it up the ramp, across the bridge, and
down the other side.
No shattered glass or cracked pavement to trip up our
Forward marching feet.
