they're born
strong head, narrow hipped
from dense black soil and
mineral deposits
hot silver, crusted
rock debris
reminiscent of thick pelts
red skies
morning dew
dark pools.
with a cracked pepper zeal
they come forth
a new
anew.
to form soft tendrils of
liberated
unfurling,
into
snaked roots
and wild depth,
of which we know no bounds.

very polite
someone does martial arts
does a calm physical comportment sometimes make people seem kind?
or maybe not, i like everything
interviewing friends
"the women were very polite"
polite, irreverent, self-assured, humble
saved by
knowing through your body only in the small sense
playful interaction

DAY DRUNK
Rushing world, red glue of fruit juice.
Outside the fire turns into a tower.
Wolf-mouth eating seeds
over open sweater drawer.
Daughter hands, given a knife.
Sweetheart eyes, flicker to see
who might catch
my mastery.
Fun with language
"….I'm over the moon for the lads today, they worked really hard and hopefully we can kick on from there."
I'm embarrassed when you won't meet and quite possibly you're embarrassed you didn't kick on.
But I love it when we meet because your language didn't kick on and your "guff", the direct reference to smell, was not that but a word, but it was millions of parents emptying their mowers into the compost heap, unimaginable death brought upon blades of grass and millions of children once again thinking back, weeping at the smell of it, but it was not that; you are the ghost of lingual past and your talk reminds me.
Oh Molly
Our friend Molly came to town last night
We all paid her a visit
It was a friendly kind of night
She kept us entertained
full of love and embraces
This morning Molly was gone
leaving no trace of her presence
Molly, Oh Molly, when will we see you again?
We all paid her a visit
It was a friendly kind of night
She kept us entertained
full of love and embraces
This morning Molly was gone
leaving no trace of her presence
Molly, Oh Molly, when will we see you again?
New Years Day
I resolve to
stop trying
to be better
instead I
vow to be
a brand new
woman
the one I feel
rising
when I wake
at dawn
and soothe
myself back to sleep
not yet
ready
but if not
today then when
I was born into
this
sick and
empty
craving and
regretting
reaching and
eating
I’m saying this
will be the year
to look for
love in all the right places
and call it
lucky
the first of the year is just another day
she sleeps peacefully
i want to do
as i am wont to do
the room shakes
rings
but she is stone
cold but peace
the love i have
is the love she needs
tomorrow comes
i want to do
as i am wont to do
the room shakes
rings
but she is stone
cold but peace
the love i have
is the love she needs
tomorrow comes
You say the hedgehog kept away the scorpions.
I show you how to bend in the hallway
or I could if I weren't scared of your answer.
A folded piece of paper and
every outcome is no.
You stack cubes into an L and shoot at me then
your arms reach high to drape on mother.
Your back presses hard against the wall,
or into my hand as I push you up the stairs.
