Mid-Winter

I want to go to a warm place
in February

I want to see the beach,
walk on the sand,
lay in the sun,
and swim in the ocean

I want to take my 9 days of freedom
and make the most of it
soak it up
and feel happy again

Don't want to get trapped
in this cold heart of a city,
staring at the television in my frigid apartment
or crammed into the subway car
in an attempt to do something

I want to get out of here
but I don't want to go it alone.
