Lost in its embrace

How could this be?

To avoid this calamity
This sense of disorder
Maybe this is a mirage

Fame and fortune await.
And yet this nagging feeling
Of loss and yearning
This path so riddled with fear
Anticipation
So this is not love
Just an infatuation
